Mineral Slurries
Although inorganic by nature and on first sight not vulnerable to organisms, aqueous suspensions of inorganic minerals like calciumcarbonate, kaolin or titanium dioxide provide a suitable environment for growth of microorganisms. Temperature and pH conditions during processing/shipping are often ideal for growth of microorganisms such as bacteria. Only by use of biocides it is possible to control growth of bacteria in mineral slurries during processing and in the final products.
With the Preventol® D and Preventol® P range of in-can preservatives it is possible to achieve control on bacteria growth at all production stages and in all types of mineral slurries, independent of pH or temperature, which may differ significantly, depending on the basic pigment under discussion.
